Alpha Delta Pi is the oldest secret society for collegiate women, founded on May 15, 1851 at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. One of our founders, Eugenia Tucker, was just 16 years old when she entered Wesleyan College, and within her first year she would establish the first sorority in the world, then known as the Adelphean Society, derived from the Greek word, meaning sister. In 1904, the members of the Adelphean Society voted to become a national sorority and changed their name to Alpha Delta Pi in 1905.
Alpha Delta Pi was founded on the values of scholarship, leadership, service to others, and sisterhood. Our sisters encourage one anotherin maintaining the highest standard of our values, and in doing so, our sisterhood not only lasts the years spent together at Texas State; our sisterhood lasts a lifetime!
